"It was not one of the prettiest games of the year," said Coach Al Smeenk of the Lady Knights' victory over the Liberty Christian Patriots last night.
Sunnyside Christian dominated the game, winning 56-18.
"Everybody played all four quarters," said Smeenk. "We haven't been able to do that so far this year, so it was good that everyone played."
Lady Knight Stormee Van Belle was a whirlwind on the court, racking up 24 points and 14 rebounds for her third double-double in a row.
Sunnyside Christian's Brittany Broersma, back from an ankle injury, bucketed eight points in her limited playing time.
"She just doesn't want to quit," said Smeenk of Broersma. "But the physical therapist said only two to three minutes at a time so I had to take her out."
Annie Brouwer and Kara den Hoed both scored six points for the Lady Knights while Katelyn Banks and Rita Dalrymple both bucketed five points each.
The Lady Knights (5-0) next play tomorrow, Dec. 20, at Waitsburg. Sunnyside Christian starts league play this coming Friday and Saturday at Klickitat and then home the following night against Yakama Tribal.
