MOSES LAKE - The Sunnyside High School Grizzly Dance Team this past weekend competed in Moses Lake, bringing home several honors.
The team competed in the hip-hop and pom categories, winning top honors with 263 points and 234 points, respectively.
Earning runner-up honors in the pom competition was Othello with 220 points and West Valley earned third place honors.
In hip-hop, Othello was runner-up with 247 points. Third place honors were earned by Pasco.
The Grizzly Dance Team also earned the best showmanship award for its hip-hop routine.
A trophy was awarded to the team for also earning the most overall points at the competition.
Sunnyside's Kayla Amaro and Stefani Anciso, too, brought home individual awards for their performances in the drill down competition. Amaro was runner-up and Anciso earned third place honors.
In addition to the more serious competition, Sunnyside Coach Melodie Griffin said there was a "Crazy Team Dance Competition." The Grizzly Dance Team won the event.
Winning the "Dad's Dance Competition" was Sunnyside's Armando Esqueda.
The Sunnyside Grizzly Dance Team will next compete this coming Saturday at Richland High School. Competition begins at 11 a.m.
