Portlander claims Sunnyside tourney

Sue Pisha of Portland, Ore. is the champion of the 2012 Super One Day Cribbage tournament recently held here in Sunnyside.

It marks the third cribbage championship Pisha has won, all of them in Sunnyside.

With 40 players in the second annual tournament, she ran through the competition by beating Sunnyside's Betty Brumley in the finals.

Also finishing in the top four were Julie Pierce of Springfield, Ore. and Bill Hill of Hermiston, Ore.

Canadian Lorne Tatton was the top qualifier.

Mabton's Jack Moritzky claimed the 32 players consolation championship, besting Brandon Nickels of Pullmam. Sunnyside's Brad Collyer and George Wilson of Grand Coulee rounded out the top four.

Darrin Truax of Grandview was the consolation round's top qualifier.

James Morrow of Sunnyside won the Friday Night Special.
