Fine assessed for I-82 work

The Washington Department of Ecology issued $117,372 in penalties of $1,000 or more in the fourth quarter (October, November, December) of 2011, including a penalty for a company working on a Lower Valley project.

Interstate Improvements Inc. of Faribault, Mont. failed to properly manage concrete grindings and wash water during road construction on Interstate 82, resulting in discharge to storm culverts along approximately 70 miles of roadway. The penalty of $1,000 has been paid.
