OBITUARY

HERBERT WAYNE ICE

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend Herbert Wayne Ice, 88, of Sunnyside passed away on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012.

Wayne was born on Nov. 21, 1923 to Herbert and Alta Ice in Prosser. Wayne received his education in Prosser, graduating from Prosser High School as valedictorian with the class of 1942. Following graduation, Wayne entered into military service, joining the United States Marines in September of 1942.

On Jan. 14, 1945 he married Ollie Green in Prosser. He farmed wheat his entire life with Ice Brothers Farms.

Wayne cherished time spent with family, enjoyed traveling and reading. He was a member of the Sunnyside United Methodist Church, American Legion 40/8 of Prosser and lifetime member of the VFW. Wayne was a very giving person; he loved when he could buy lunch for everyone.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Ice of Sunnyside; children, Terry Sue Morrow (Tom) of Sunnyside, Deborah Harrison (Steven) of Prosser; step-children, Donna Powers (Chris) of Richland, Lynn Bartley (Bob) and Joan Sowers (Gary), both of Grandview, Greg Smith (Dina) of Moses Lake, Sandy Cueto (Bud) of Benton City and Kent Smith (Sue) of Richland. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ollie Ice; brothers, Mayo Ice, Woodrow Ice, Douglas Ice; two sisters, Virginia and Jessie; son, Gary Ice; and a grandson, Steve.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, from 2 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial will be held at the East Prosser Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
