Ruiz, Escobedo, Parrish CWAC first team selections

GRANDVIEW - Three athletes at Grandview High School have been named CWAC All-League first team selections for the just completed 2011-12 winter sports season.

In girls basketball, GHS junior Payton Parrish joins Sammi Blodgett of Wapato, East Valley's Yasi Mohsenian and Mikaela Zimmer, and Prosser's Helen Petersen and Syndy Mercer on the CWAC All-League first team. Blodgett was named the CWAC girls basketball player of the year.

Grandview's Marissa Caballero, a sophomore, has been named to the CWAC All-League second team for girls basketball.

In boys basketball, both Grandview sophomore Isaiah Ruiz and Greyhound teammate Sal Escobedo, a senior, have been afforded CWAC All-League first team honors. Joining the two 'Hounds on the first team all-star list are league MVP Shannon Isadore of Toppenish, as well as Ellensburg's Reece Ravet and Nick Gigstead, and Wapato's Ozzie George and Shawn Craig.

Grandview senior Kiki Mendoza has also been singled out by the CWAC coaches, having been named a boys basketball honorable mention honoree.

In wrestling, earning CWAC All-League second team all-star honors were Grandview's Joesiah Saunders and Martin Torres for the medium and heavy weight classifications, respectively. Singled out as honorable mention honorees were Grandview's Fidel Medina for the lighter weight classes and teammate Eduardo Alcantar for the medium weight classes.

The CWAC's wrestler of the year was Ellensburg's Tyler Coates.
