Police study review on hold

The recently released study of the Sunnyside Police Department, completed by MGT of America, will not be discussed any time soon.

The Sunnyside City Council this past Saturday was unable to set a meeting date for the discussion because it wants to include the future interim city manager.

Mayor Mike Farmer said, "I think we need to review (the study) as soon as possible, but not until the interim city manager can be involved in the process."

Councilman Jim Restucci proposed the council reconsider a date for the review at the Monday, March 5, workshop meeting.

Councilman Nick Paulakis said the police department's leadership team should also be present for the review.

The council members agreed, also noting the consultants responsible for the study should provide a presentation.

No formal vote was taken on when a date will be set to review the study of police operations.
