Black Rock Creek Golf Course's 18-hole ladies group will kick off the 2012 season on Tuesday, March 6.
The women's group, looking to bolster its membership, invites all ladies in the Lower Yakima Valley area to take part in the weekly competitions.
"The only requirement is to bring your own clubs," said a spokesman for the ladies group, Wanda Stokes.
She explained that golfers of all skill levels, even novices, those just learning the game of golf, are encouraged to take part.
The ladies group meets weekly throughout the golfing season, every Tuesday morning at the Sunnyside-area course.
The March 6 kick-off event, unlike the other weekly competitions, will be just a nine-hole affair. The play of the day on the season opener will be a four-person scramble.
"We'll start that morning with a social...snacks, coffee and juice...at 9 a.m.," said Stokes. "The golfing part of it will probably get going at about 10 a.m."
Stokes said local women interested in joining the ladies for the weekly gatherings do not need to be members of Black Rock Creek Golf Course. Greens fee players, those who just pay as they go, are encouraged to participate.
