Council inks legal fees contract

The Sunnyside City Council this past Monday approved a new legal fee agreement with Menke Jackson Beyer Ehlis & Harper LLC.

Under the terms of the new agreement, the city will be charged at an hourly rate for legal services provided by the firm.

Legal services provided by partners will cost the city $175 per hour, associate time will cost $160 per hour, interns will cost $95 an hour and the city will pay $55 per hour for support staff time.

Included in the approval for the new fees was a stipulation that the firm provide bi-monthly reports to the Sunnyside City Council.

Because the city's legal fees have been on a decline, the council agreed the hourly rate is in the best interest of the city's budgetary needs.

The council approved the new agreement unanimously.
