Students fortunate for support from local community

On behalf of the Sunnyside School District, our board of directors would like to thank the Sunnyside and Outlook communities for their support of the recent maintenance and operations levy renewal. The election was certified Thursday, Feb. 23, with a final approval rate of 72 percent, which was the highest school levy approval rate in Yakima County. We are fortunate to have a community that shows such overwhelming support for education.

We do not take your support for granted. We will continue to act as good stewards of the resources that fund our schools' educational programs and activities. We are pleased to continue offering Sunnyside students a high quality educational experience, while maintaining the second lowest school district tax in the county.

Your support will allow us to continue offering the programs and supports that are necessary to give our students the highest quality education possible, and ensure each one of them has the opportunity to succeed. Our school district has seen very impressive and promising academic gains over the past few years as our staff have engaged in developing and aligning a system of improvement within our schools.

The funds generated through the levy you approved will continue to assist us in continuing to move closer to our overarching goal of success for every student.
