Manuel M. Orona, 86, of Sunnyside went to be in the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.

Manuel was born Feb. 24, 1925 in Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Trancito and Reyes (Muniz) Orona.

Manuel received his education in Mexico.

In 1951 he married the love of his life, Dora Ramos.

Manuel worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 28 years as a laborer and equipment operator.

He enjoyed driving, working in his garage and singing.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Dora R. Orona of Sunnyside; three sons, Jessie M. Orona and Joe (Eulalia) D. Orona, all of Sunnyside and Samuel (Kendal) Orona of West Richland; two daughters, Rose Marie (Armando) Garcia of Lacey and Lorie (Antonio) Santoy of Sunnyside; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
