Clarence LeRoy Mains, 79, of Bickleton passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in Sunnyside.
Clarence was born Nov. 10, 1932 in Glade, the son of Clarence McKinnly and Ruby A. (Sharpe) Mains.
He graduated from Mabton High School in 1950.
On Aug. 25, 1954 Clarence married Janet C. Wood in Grandview.
He loved to farm dry land wheat until failing health forced him to retire.
Clarence enjoyed hunting, especially elk hunting in the Blues with his buddies.
For 35 years Clarence, friends and family could hardly wait for the first snow, so they could enjoy snowmobile trips to Bend, Ore. Clarence also enjoyed many short jaunts with his canine partner, Charlie.
He was a member of the Glade Fire Department for many years.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Janet Mains of Bickleton; one son, Tony (Adrienne) Mains of Mabton/Prosser; one daughter, Deb (Gary) Lambdin of Grandview; one grandson, Nick (Heidi) Lambdin of Kennewick; one granddaughter, Juanita C. Mains of Tri-Cities; two great-grandsons, Payton and Gavin Lambdin, both of Kennewick; one sister, Peggy McDow of Richland; one brother, Mike (Carman) Brown of Kennewick; sister-in-law, Diane Morris of Goldendale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence M. Mains, in 1939; his mother, Ruby A. Brown, in 2006; and a brother, Robert L. Mains, in 1996.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring, when his buddy Jerry Price returns home.
