Police seize money, gun and drugs at South Hill Park

At about 8:30 p.m. this past Tuesday night Sunnyside Police Gang Unit officers arrested two people after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of South Hill Park.

Ramon Ruelas Rodriguez, 25, and Olga Blanco Diaz, 27, were taken into custody after Sunnyside Police Gang Unit officers said they determined the pair was trespassing in the park.

An inventory of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of eight grams of methamphetamine, scales, ledgers and $2,700 in cash. When arrested, police say Rodriguez was found to have a stolen 380 Bersa pistol on his person.

Rodriguez is being held on charges of criminal trespass second degree, alien in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (within a school zone). Diaz is being held on charges of criminal trespass second degree.

On Wednesday, officers responded to a report of the theft of a Seahawk jacket from Goodwill. The investigation is active.

Officers also responded to two reports of disorderly conduct, three reports of loose dogs, two reports of assault, a report of harassment, four traffic issues and a case of vandalism on Wednesday.

Sunnyside police yesterday also provided an agency assist and a citizen assist, took four informational calls and served an arrest warrant.
