The Lady Vikings this past weekend dropped a game to visiting Connell before coming back to win big against Wahluke.
Mabton lost to Connell 55-41. Despite the 14-point difference in the final score, Mabton Coach Chris McCallum felt his girls basketball team played well.
"It never felt like the game was out of control," he said. "They just outscored us in the second half."
Alyssa Nash led the Lady Vikings in the game with a respectable 12 points. Jazzee Sustaita dropped in 11 points of her own.
"We were out rebounded," said McCallum. "They got a lot of offensive rebounds that led to scores."
McCallum also said his team gave up a lot of fouls to Connell.
On Saturday, Mabton took on visiting Wahluke and quickly took charge, eventually winning 60-23 in the league game.
"Our starters didn't play the whole game," said McCallum. "We took them out halfway through the third quarter."
Nash again led the scoring for her team, racking up 13 points, eight assists and six steals. Sustaita and Sierra Cerrillo each added another 10 points to Mabton's total.
"It was a win," said McCallum, "but one you don't get any better from."
Mabton (3-3, 5-9) plays Riverview at home on Friday, Jan. 20, and will travel to Columbia-Burbank on Saturday, Jan. 21.
