Derald M. Cornett, 93, of Yakima and former Sunnyside resident went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 14, 2012. The Lord gave Derald to Brack Cleveland and Cora (Osborne) Cornett on July 3, 1919 in Tilden, Neb. He received his education in Nebraska. In 1938 he married Gladys M. McIntosh in Nebraska.

The Cornett family moved to Outlook in 1949, where Derald worked for Sunnyside Concrete Pipe, Valley Ready Mix and Del Monte of Toppenish. In January of 1973 he married Marjorie McIntosh in Yakima. He enjoyed family, gardening, his dogs, traveling and loved to tinker.

Derald is survived by three daughters; Janice Frye of Island City, Ore., Lorene Strong (Harry) of Selah and Agnes Marie Blake (John "Buzz") of Prosser; stepchildren Virginia Ruark (Dennis), Larry McIntosh (Linda), Jerry McIntosh (Debbie), Helen Cornett (Howard) and Elaine Getsinger; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two stepsons, Walter and Clifford Van Houten, and two grandsons, Brian Frye and Jeffery Frye.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside.
