Local students may not have all the supplies they need to have a successful school year.
This year, the Sunnyside Department of Social and Health Services is conducting a 'back to school' drive.
A familiar phrase, "It takes a village to raise a child," is exactly what the local agency is seeking for area youngsters this 'back to school' season.
DSHS does not dedicate funds for this activity, but is relying on local neighbors to help out.
School supply donations can be taken to the Sunnyside DSHS office, located at 2010 Yakima Valley Highway, suite 19, now through Aug. 16.
Items area children may need include backpacks, pencils, pens, spiral notebooks, personal hand sanitizer, Kleenex, three-ring binders, snacks, crayons and the like.
For more information or a full list of items sought, contact Diana Lyczewski at (509) 836-5752.
