Sunnyside police seeking drive-by shooting suspects

Sunnyside police rushed to the corner of South Sixth Street and East Lincoln Avenue near the Sunnyside School District offices this past Saturday evening for a report of a drive-by shooting.

The call was received just before 10 p.m. and witnesses reported a man had been struck by the bullets fired from a vehicle at the intersection.

According to police, witnesses said the victim was stopped at the light when another vehicle pulled beside him.

"A conversation ensued and there were shots fired at the victim from someone in the suspect vehicle," said police.

Police located the victim, 21-year-old Angel Perez of Sunnyside, whom they say was struck by multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital and later to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

As of this morning, Perez was reportedly in stable condition.

Officials said no arrests have yet been made and the incident is believed to have been gang-motivated.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call the Sunnyside Police Department at 836-6200.
