Viola "Billie" Helen Showman, 97, of Grandview passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012, in Grandview.
Viola was born in Feb. 26, 1915 in Chamberlain, S.D.
After arriving in this area looking for work, she answered an ad for a housekeeper which turned into more than 40 years of marriage. She had two daughters, Vivian and Dory and two sons, George Jr. and Joe Paul.
They traveled around the country following construction and then spent several years living in Puyallup working at Boeing.
After settling in Sunnyside, Billie spent several years working at Cliff's Battery Shop and then onto Mojonniers Fruit and such. She spent several years as the production supervisor.
She enjoyed playing bingo, hunting, fishing and taking long drives with our long-time family friend, Bernard Hart. You could always count on her presence at family birthdays, holidays and get togethers.
She is survived by her son, George William (Jodie) Showman III; her grandchildren, Mike Staples, Kim (Greg) Kavanagh, Vince Rolie, Chris Rolie, Tiffany (Gary) Coleman and George "Billy" (Karen) William Showman IV; several great-grandchildren; and many old friends, all of whom will remember her fondly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Showman Jr.; her two daughters, Vivian McBride and Delores (James) Bresina; and several siblings including Mildred and Grover Schrader.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to Shannon and staff at Tayon's Adult Family Home, Janet and staff at Orchard House. We can't thank your family enough.
