Grandview-area homeowner woken by burglars

Yakima County Sheriff deputies are investigating a burglary reported from the 200 block of Summit Drive near Grandview at 1 a.m. this morning after a homeowner woke to noises and discovered intruders in her home. The homeowner hid in a bathroom until deputies arrived. The burglars had already fled, taking a scooter and bicycle with them.

Deputies also received two other reports of burglaries yesterday (Tuesday). One burglary was reported from the 1900 block of Dekker Road near Outlook and one in the 1000 block of Rouse Road near Sunnyside. No details on what was taken were available.

Yesterday evening deputies also investigated a report of the theft of a four-wheeler and other items from outside a home in the 1400 block of Phipps Road near Sunnyside.

Deputies also investigated a report made yesterday morning at about 2 a.m. of approximately nine gunshots heard in the 4800 block of Sunnyside-Mabton Highway. Deputies were unable to find the source of the shots.

Since Monday morning, deputies have also investigated a report of suspicious activity, conducted three welfare checks, responded to an accident report, provided a citizen assist, responded to a report of loose chickens, responded to an automatic alarm and assisted Grandview police with a burglary investigation.
