GRANDVIEW - The Chief Kamiakin District of Cub Scouts is hosting a Twilight Camp at the Grandview Fairgrounds starting today, June 21, and running until Saturday, June 23, from 1 to 8 p.m daily.
Registration is open at the gate and all girls and boys aged 6-11 are welcome. The cost for all three days is $50 for children and $10 for adults. Six- and seven-year-olds must have an adult chaperone. Other parents are also encouraged to attend.
The annual event will include a variety of activities for attendees each day built around the theme of "Akela's Village." The activities will be centered on Native American culture.
Children attending the camp will alternate at stations during the day. Each station will have a different craft, activity or class.
Some stations planned for the event include woodworking and a variety of other crafts, an obstacle course, a nature walk, picture writing and a BB gun and archery safety class followed by firing ranges the following days.
Lunch time programs will include an archery demonstration from the Kamiakin Roving Archers Club and a chainsaw and whittling art demonstration by Chainsaw Butch of Tri-Cities. The closing event on Saturday will feature a trading post along with a family dinner and dessert.
