Victoria De La Fuente Gomez, 51, of Sunnyside passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Yakima Regional Hospital in Yakima.
Victoria was born Jan. 25, 1961 in Prosser to Ernesta G. De La Fuente and Jose C. Alvardo.
She was raised in Mabton and attended school there.
In 1979 she married Rafeal Gomez of Pasco. Together they made their home in Pasco until 1984, when they returned to Mabton.
Victoria was an apple checker for Lower Valley Apple Farms. She was also employed by Learning Land Express.
Victoria enjoyed her granddaughters and family functions. When it came to pets she always had a great passion for kittens.
Victoria had a great hard will to live and move forward even though in 1998 her health took a great decline. Victoria started to depend on dyalisis treatments every other day for the last 13 years of her life.
She enjoyed cooking and her barbacoa along with her caldos and listening to her scanner.
She was always wearing a smile even through days were rough she never complained and was always ready to help when she could.
Every year for Christmas was special for Victoria because she knew it was time for gifts for her family even if it was from the dollar store it was the thought that counted.
She enjoyed talking on the phone about whatever was on her mind especially, with her older sister, Stella Sicarios.
Victoria will forever be missed and the memories of her will stay with us forever and not forgotten.
Victoria is survived by her four children, Rodrigo Ramirez and Jesus R. (Monica Vega) Gomez, all of Sunnyside, Angelica De La Fuente and Eliecor (Eva) Gomez, both of Mabton; two granddaughters, Destiny and Kassandra Gomez, both of Mabton; three sisters, Yolanda (Bernabe) Gomez of Sunnyside, Stella (Rene) Sicairos and Beatrice Gonzalez, both of Mabton; two brothers, Arturo (Leticia) De La Fuente and Benito De La Fuente, both of Mabton; her father, Jose C. Alvarado; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles in Washington and Oregon.
Victoria was preceded in death by her mother, Ernesta G. De La Fuente; a niece, Mariah De De La Fuente; and her maternal grandparents.
We would like to thank Davita Dyalisis Center for the 13 years of life they gave to our mom, to Hillcrest Rehab and Dr. Licht, along with Kadlec Hospital and Dr. Upaideia and staff.
