Orchardist dies in tractor accident

A 57-year-old Grandview man spraying a cherry orchard in the 500 block of Ware Road near Grandview died after being pinned between a low-hanging branch and his tractor yesterday evening (Tuesday), according to Yakima County Sheriff deputies.

The man was found by a passerby and one of his employees, who attempted to free him. The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Yesterday, deputies also investigated the theft of a motorcycle from the 4,300 block of Independence Road near Sunnyside and the theft of a vehicle's registration and proof of insurance from the 2600 block of Midvale Road near Sunnyside.

Since yesterday morning, deputies also responded to two reports of citizen disputes, investigated a report of a missing person, investigated a report of fraud, responded to an automatic alarm and investigated a car accident near Outlook.
