Two injured, one dead in vehicle rollover

Washington State Patrol officers responded to a collision report yesterday at approximately 10:30 a.m.

A 1992 Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Van Belle Road. After passing a freight truck the motorist, Rigoberto Rivera, 35, lost control of the vehicle. Officials say the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times. Rivera and two passengers, Alfredo Rivera, 32, and Veronica Lopez, 19, were all ejected from the vehicle.

Alfredo Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene. Lopez was transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital after sustaining minor injuries. The driver, Rigoberto Rivera, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to more critical injuries.

Officials say charges are pending and the incident is still under investigation.
