Reaction to "Bedlam breaks out at council meeting" front page article on Tuesday, March 27, 2012: it's a good bet my reaction to Tuesday's article regarding the behavior of council members here in Sunnyside represents the reaction many other residents share, embarrassment.
Between Active Duty, Active Reserve and Inactive Reserve in the Marine Corps, I served a total of 14 years. I've worked as a volunteer in law enforcement and served as a volunteer technical advisor for the Oregon State Defense Force (Guard) for 31 years. I know a little bit about teamwork and leadership, qualities you expect to find in your elected representatives, and what I read in Tuesday's paper was completely contradictory to those principles.
You all don't have to like each other, but you do have to work together in a constructive way. Hamstringing each other, stabbing each other in the back and publicly humiliating your teammates is not the way to go about conducting your business; and it is an embarrassment to the community.
Remember, you are representing all of us.
