After twelve or more years of fruitful toil in school, the class of 2012 is about ready to graduate.
It's time for parents and families of high school seniors to start preparing for the graduation ceremony. Knowing what to expect will make the big day easier for everyone involved.
Sunnyside High School will be holding graduation on Friday, June 8, at 8 p.m. on the football field next to the high school. Graduating seniors will each get a limited number of tickets that will allow their family members to enter early to find their seats. At about 7:30 p.m. the gates will open to the general public.
The valedictorian for Sunnyside's class of 2012 will be Maria Quintero. The salutatorian will be Abbagail Gomez. School officials could not give an estimate of the number of students graduating this year.
Across town, Sunnyside Christian High School commencement will be held Friday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Grandview. No tickets are required for entry. The graduating class consists of 14 students.
Mabton High School's graduation will be held Friday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at the high school gymnasium. Again, no tickets will be required.
