Near to below normal temps, rainfall predicted here in Sunnyside

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting Sunnyside will experience temperatures that are near or below normal during the month of May.

Near to below normal precipitation is also forecasted for Sunnyside.

The normal high temperature during this month is 71 degrees at the beginning of the month, rising to 79 degrees by May 31. Low night-time temperatures typically rise from 42 degrees to 51 degrees.

Sunnyside's average precipitation for the month of May is .61 inches.

The month of April, too, was colder than normal, according to the National Weather Service.

The average temperature in the Sunnyside area for the month was 50.2 degrees, 2.7 degrees cooler than normal. The average day-time high temperature was 64.3 degrees, which was 2.6 degrees below normal. The mercury reached 85 degrees on the hottest day last month, on April 24, but it dipped as low as 25 degrees on April 7. The average low was 36.1 degrees last month, which was 2.8 degrees below normal.

There were nine days of freezing temperatures registering on the thermometer last month.

Precipitation for Sunnyside was a total of .81 inches during the month of April. That is .22 inches higher than normal. The heaviest rainfall occurred May 26 with .3 inches. The city received nine days of rainfall throughout the month.

For the year, Sunnyside has received .41 inches more rainfall than on average. The total precipitation for the community has been 3.14 inches.
