Because Washington state has redrawn the voter district boundaries, the Yakima County Auditor's Office this week began mailing out new voter registration cards to voters affected by the district changes.
Approximately 40,000 cards have been sent to voters inside a new district and/or precinct.
Residents in the 13th, 14th and 15th legislative districts have been affected by redistricting. Most of the changes affect voters of the 15th legislative district.
The new boundaries are in effect and voters affected will be using the new district and precincts during the state's primary election on Aug. 7.
The Yakima County Elections Department urges voters with questions to call 509-574-1340 or visit online at www.redistricting.wa.gov.
