SELAH - The Greyhound boys tennis team will send a singles player and two doubles teams to the second round of Districts this coming Saturday after pulling off two victories and an incomplete match in Thursday's first round.
In singles play, Grandview's No. 2 player, Jose Ramos, took on Quincy's No. 2, James Bensch, and came out on top. Ramos won the match in two sets, 6-4, 6-2.
The Greyhounds' top doubles team of Stevan Ramirez and Abel Pasillas also faced Quincy opponents, and defeated Jackrabbits Durfee and Jimenez in two sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Grandview No. 1 singles player Marcus Morales didn't fare as well in his outing against Quincy's No. 1 player, Samuel Gregg, losing the match 6-3, 6-0.
Grandview's No. 2 doubles team of Chris Galvan and Fernando Serna were outmatched by Quincy's No. 1 team of Sonny Fregoso and Rollie Ronish III, who defeated them by twin sets of 6-0 each.
The Greyhounds No. 3 doubles team didn't finish their match, playing only two sets against Prosser's No. 2 team of Dennis and Weddle. The first set went Prosser's way 7-5, but the Greyhound boys conquered the Mustangs with a 6-1 score in the second set to even it up. The match will be completed in the second round of District playoffs on Saturday. The second round of Districts will be held at Ephrata.
