More public office filings

There were a few more political candidates filing for public office yesterday. Political candidates who wish to run for election can file through this coming Friday, May 18.

In Yakima County, Rep. David Taylor (R-Moxee) has filed for re-election, and Mike Leita, Yakima County Commissioner Dist. 1, is also seeking to continue serving his constituents.

Yakima County Superior Court Judge Susan Hahn, department 1, has filed for re-election to the bench, as have Rob Lawrence-Berry, department 7, and Richard Bartheld, department 8.

Filing for the governor's seat was Jay Inslee, a Democrat from the Seattle area.

Republican Kim Wyman of Lacey added her name to the list of candidates seeking the secretary of state position.

The first candidate for the state treasurer, incumbent Jim McIntire (D-Seattle), has filed for re-election, and Democrat Troy Kelley of Lakewood has thrown his hat in the race for state auditor.

Adding his name to the attorney general election race was Bob Ferguson, a Democrat from Seattle, and James Bauckman of Bellingham will challenge Randy Dorn for the superintendent of public instruction position.

Hoping to be elected to the Washington State Supreme Court Justice position 9 chair is John Ladenburg.

One new challenger has filed for Sen. Maria Cantwell's seat in Washington D.C. That individual is Republican Art Coday of Shoreline.
