James (Jim) Robert Edge, 66, of White Salmon died on Friday, May 4, 2012, at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1945 in Harrison Ark. to Wilmer and Beatrice Edge.

He moved to Tieton in 1958.

Jim received his education in Tieton, Cowiche, Wapato and Grandview. He completed eight grades.

He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and returned to the Grandview area.

In 1965 he met Laura Farley. They were married on June 3, 1965 in Lewiston, Idaho. Jim and Laura were blessed with two daughters, Lisa on March 14, 1970 and Jimmie Sue on Sept. 12, 1974. Jim was a devoted husband and father.

Whenever he was able, Jim liked to help out family and friends who were in need.

Jim and Laura spent nearly 47 years together. They lived in the Yakima Valley, Wenatchee, Whitstran, as well as Hood River, Ore. They moved to White Salmon in 2006, where they enjoyed the peaceful serenity of a wooded home site.

During his lifetime, Jim worked hard at various agricultural jobs, such as being manager of a fruit farm. He also spent a short while working for the railroad.

Jim's hobbies consisted of outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife, Laura; two daughters, Lisa and Jimmie Sue; a grandson, Shane Michael McBride; his brother, Bill (Pam) of Tacoma; brothers-in-law, Doug Farley and Gordon Farley; and sister-in-law, Gertie (Jim) Bieber; and many nieces and nephews. .

Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 17, at 2 p.m. at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 221 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Yakima.

Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon is in charge of arrangements.
