Three seniors awarded Soroptimist scholarships

The Soroptimists of the Lower Yakima Valley have named their 2012 academic scholarship winner.

Madison Moore, a senior at Prosser High School, is the recipient of this year's scholarship, worth $1,200.

She has been accepted to Washington State University and has maintained a high grade point average while holding several leadership positions. She has also remained active in school and the community of Prosser.

A second and third scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each were presented to White Swan High School senior Jessica Sheppard and Sunnyside Christian High School senior Alyssa Haak.

Sheppard will attend Central Washington University this coming fall, and Haak will attend Whitworth University.

The scholarships were presented to the recipients last Thursday during the Soroptimist club's regular meeting at Sunnyside's Sunny Spot Restaurant.
