SEATTLE - The Grandview doubles team of Stevan Ramirez and Abel Pasillas came back empty-handed from the State tournament, but collected some memories along the way.
"They were not able to pull out a win, but ended with no regrets with the memories of a great season," said Grandview Coach Ronda Penwell.
The pair started the 2A State tournament against Ryan and Evan Gudbranson of Tumwater, who defeated the Grandview duo easily in the first set, 6-0. Ramirez and Pasillas came alive in the second set and drove the scoring into extra points, eventually losing 6-7(3-7) to the Tumwater boys.
In their second match, the Greyhound team was up against Michael and Cong Nguyen of Evergreen. Pasillas and Ramirez fell in two sets, 6-0, 6-2.
"Once again they were plagued by a slow start, which has been a recurring issue throughout the season," said Coach Penwell. "However, they never gave up and battled back in both games and gave their opponents a run for their money.
"Best friends, and partners for their senior year, Abel and Stevan had a great and fun season to remember," said Penwell.
