Mabton School Board approves staffing changes

MABTON - In action last night, Tuesday, the Mabton School Board approved the hiring of Sue Sartain as vice principal for the junior/senior high school on a permanent basis. Sartain had been filling the post on an interim basis.

In related action, the board also agreed to permanently hire Lisa Gorman to staff the resource room. She was filling that post on an interim basis after Sartain left it to serve as interim vice principal.

Other staffing moves approved last night included hiring Sartain and junior/high school principal Jose Elizondo as co-summer school administrators.

Also, the board agreed to hire Crystal Garcia as the new head coach for the high school volleyball program.

Garcia has spent the past two years as the freshman volleyball coach at Sunnyside High School and the five years before that as head volleyball coach at Sierra Vista Middle School.

The board also accepted the retirement announcements of secondary teacher Linda Mowery and bus driver Blanche Tobin. Mabton Schools Superintendent Minerva Morales expressed appreciation to both for their years of service to the district.
