Mary B Jenkins, 98, former longtime resident of Grandview, passed away on May 18, 2012 in Astoria, Ore.

Mary was born Nov. 9, 1913, the third child of Ethel and John Bradley, in Yonkers, NY. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in Tarry Town, NY.

In 1942, Mary moved to Washington D.C., where she met a young sailor, Charles G. Jenkins. They were married in April 1943. He preceded her in death. When Charles finished his enlistment, they relocated to Washington state, where Mary remained until August 2011.

Mary was a loving mom and raised seven children. She enjoyed her Irish heritage and writing to her Irish pen pal. She had a beautiful smile and was quick witted. Mary loved playing Scrabble, Crazy Rummy and doing crossword puzzles.

Mary is survived by her children: Chuck Jenkins and his wife, Mariann, of Lynden; Ed Jenkins and his wife, Caloha, of Sunnyside; Rich Jenkins of Buckley; Doris Conley and her husband, Bob, of Renton; Margaret Antilla and her husband, Bill, of Astoria; Bob Jenkins and his wife, Marie, of Long Beach and Pam Jenkins of Yakima. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; her son, Bill Jenkins; and her grandson, Eric Jenkins.

A celebration of life was held on May 26, 2012 in Astoria. Arrangements were under the direction of Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary.
