Toys for Tots drop-off sites in Lower Yakima Valley at American West Bank Sunnyside and Mabton offices

"I just thought every little child needs a toy," Barbara Davis of Sunnyside's American West Bank branch said.

She and her co-workers have arranged to collect toys for children through the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Both the Sunnyside and Mabton branches of American West Bank will serve as collection sites for toys being donated to the organization, according to Davis.

She said Toys for Tots is an opportunity for American West Bank to continue helping those who are less fortunate.

"We are always looking for ways to help the community," Davis said of American West Bank.

Toys will be collected beginning next Monday, Nov. 19. Friday, Dec. 14, will be the final day of collection.

Santa will make a special appearance on Dec. 14 at the Sunnyside branch from 2 to 4 p.m. Children are urged to pay him a visit.

American West Bank, said Davis, believes the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is an organization the bank can stand behind.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 as a means for distributing toys to needy children.

Toys collected by the organization can be new and do not need to be wrapped.
