Sunnyside poker player cashes

PENDLETON, ORE. - Jose Gomez of Sunnyside garnered a third-place finish in the Monday, Nov. 12, All In or Fold No-Limit Texas Hold 'em Tournament at Wildhorse Resort & Casino.

The tourney was one of 12 staged during the 10-day Fall Poker Round-up hosted by the Pendleton-area casino, the ninth consecutive year the event has been held.

The 'All In or Fold' tournament on Nov. 12 drew a field of 147 poker players. Cash payouts for the tourney totaled just over $15,000. Gomez, in placing third, received a pay day of $1,967. The winner's share of the purse, $3,487, went to Goldendale's John Runyan. Rich Poliquin of Stevenville, Mont. placed second and won $2,724.

Tom Schultheis of Colton, Wa. was declared the all-around champion of the Nov. 9-18 poker round-up. He won two of the tournaments...the Nov. 10 No-Limit Texas Hold 'em tourney, which earned him the top prize of $19,955; and another No-Limit Texas Hold 'em tourney on Nov. 14, which came with a first-place payout of $13,454.
