TOPPENISH - The Bickleton Lady Pirates upgraded their league record to 4-1 with a three-game win over the Toppenish Yakama Tribal Eagles last night.
The visiting Lady Pirates took the first game seemingly without a problem, winning 25-9.
The Eagles found momentum and gave the Lady Pirates a run for their money in the second. But in the end, Bickleton still pulled out the win, 26-24. The Lady Pirates also won the third game by a score of 25-20.
Contributing to last night's win was Lady Pirate Haley Goodnight with a 14-for-14 serving record. Goodnight also provided two assists on the night.
Also showing gumption in Toppenish last night was Bickleton's Jamie Venema, who cleared 10 of her 11 serves over the net. She also provided five unreturnable spikes.
Lady Pirate Lindsay Brown provided four kills, and went 10-for-11 at the service line.
The Bickleton Lady Pirates were originally scheduled to host Helix this Thursday, Oct. 4. However, Bickleton Coach Katie Leuthauser says the match has been cancelled. The team's next match is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 8, a non-league match-up against the visiting Mabton JV squad.
