Panthers claw past Sunnyside

WENATCHEE - "They brought it against us," was SHS Coach Sandy Jaquish's assessment of Wenatchee's convincing 3-0 sweep over his Lady Grizzly volleyball team last night.

The host Panthers dominated Tuesday night by scores of 25-7, 25-6, 25-12.

"They hit the ball pretty well at us," said Jaquish. "We were trying, but they had a lot of firepower that we couldn't slow down consistently."

Despite the loss, the Lady Grizzlies did have some highlights for their efforts. Vanessa Alvarez had a good all-around match for Sunnyside with four kills and four digs.

Sunnyside also got a boost from Geordan Skyles, who provided a team-high 10 digs against the fierce Panther attack.

"I told the girls later there are going to be some teams like this that are tough for us to match up against," Jaquish said. "We can't over-analyze a match like this. We have to go out and get after the next one."

The next match for Sunnyside (1-4, 1-8) is tomorrow, Thursday, at Moses Lake.
