EAST WENATCHEE - The Lady Grizzlies swim team was once again overwhelmed by sheer numbers as they faced Eastmont this past Wednesday, losing the meet 114-55, but the team still managed some powerful performances in the water.
Sunnyside's always amazing Cassadie Moore turned in two individual first place performances and helped her team to a relay win as well.
Moore left the competition behind in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 2:12.94, more than seven seconds ahead of second-place finisher Alexis Raber of Eastmont (2:20.18).
In the 100-yard breaststroke Moore's lead was more than eight seconds. She finished in 1:13.96 while Wildcat Adrian Marquis splashed in for a second-place clocking of 1:22.23.
The Sunnyside team of Moore, Summer Hazzard, Kalie Bestebreur and Payton Sample finished the 200-yard freestyle relay under two minutes, with a time of 1:58.38. The second-place Eastmont team clocked in at 2:07.01.
Moore wasn't the only speedster of the meet for Sunnyside. Lindsay Schilperoort and Bestebreur finished one-two in the 50-yard freestyle with near identical times of 30.56 and 30.58, respectively. The third place finisher for the Wildcats, Alex Maydole, clocked in two seconds later at 32.64.
The Sunnyside team will be traveling to Federal Way this coming Saturday for the Mukilteo Invite.
