FEDERAL WAY - The Lady Grizzly swim team managed a 25th place finish in a field of 35 at the Mukilteo Invite this past Saturday, earning 61 points and showcasing some great efforts by the team.
Richland High School dominated the meet, held at the King County Aquatic Center. Richland earned 457 points to second-place Bainbridge Island's 448.
The standout for Sunnyside was sophomore Cassadie Moore, who competed in two individual events and two relays.
"Cassadie was within .03 second of the state cut for the individual medley, a four-second personal best," said Coach Carl Scott. "And then she went another personal best in the breaststroke and placed second overall in that event."
Moore touched seventh in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:17.23, behind first place finisher Lisa Bratton of Richland (2:04.97).
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Moore's clocking of 1:08.68 was second only to Melody Coleman of Marysville-Pilchuck, who finished only two tenths of a second ahead with a time of 1:08.48.
The team of Lindsay Schilperoort, Moore, Payton Sample and Kalie Bestebreur also put in a good performance in the 200-yard medley relay with an 18th place finish and a time of 2:06.59. Bainbridge was the top finisher in the relay with a clocking of 1:53.77.
