The Sunnyside Christian Lady Knights vanquished the visiting Klickitat Vandals in four sets last night, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20.
"We fought hard for this win!" said Lady Knights Coach Stephanie Dalrymple. "The team played very well tonight. We made a lot of simple mistakes early on in the match which resulted in us struggling to stay in control."
After winning the first set, Klickitat continued to give the undefeated Lady Knights a tough game.
"Klickitat was digging up our attacks really well and we had to readjust our offense," said Dalrymple. "Once we were able to get some kills at the net it helped our confidence. Our defense really stepped it up tonight with digging up the ball."
Three Lady Knights went into double-digits in keeping the ball alive with digs, Stormee Van Belle leading the team with 13. She was followed by Kate Newhouse with 11 and Alexandra Newhouse with 10. Danika DeGroot and Brittany Broersma each tallied nine digs for Sunnyside Christian in the win and teammate Annie Brouwer came away with eight.
Sunnyside Christian relied on strong teamwork to come away with a win in the match. Alexandra Newhouse provided 14 perfect passes while Kate Newhouse nearly matched her with 13. Brouwer contributed another nine perfect passes and DeGroot helped her teammates with 16 assists.
