Bickleton High senior first across finish line at SCAC cmeet

GRANGER - Bickleton High School senior Peter Clinton appears poised and ready for the 1B postseason competition to get underway.

Yesterday at a SCAC cross-country meet staged on Granger's 5,000-meter course, Clinton bested all the 1A harriers in the 58-runner field. He sped to a first-place clocking of 16:43.

Clinton's primary competition came from the trio of Justin Warner of Naches and Granger's Dominque Fuller and Omar Cardoza. Warner claimed runner-up honors, finishing 13 seconds back of Clinton in a time of 16:56. The Spartan duo of Fuller and Cardoza tied for third with clockings of 16:57.

Fifth across the finish line was Clinton's teammate, freshman Troy Roberts. He posted a time of 17:39.

Bickleton also received an 11th place performance from freshman Andrew Gannon (18:39).

Also competing for the 1B Pirates Thursday afternoon were freshman Kane Lowe, 16th place (18:48); sophomore Joey Cardenas, 21st place (19:10); senior Joshua Cummings, 44th place (20:59); eighth grader Joseph Cummings, 51st place (21:48); and eighth grader Kenny Allenton, 53rd place (22:21).
