GRANDVIEW - In their home finale for the 2012 season, the Lady Greyhound volleyball team went out in style with a 25-3, 25-22, 25-22 sweep over Toppenish last night.
"We did real well, then we kind of relaxed," Grandview Coach John LaFever said of the win last night, Thursday.
Fielding a varsity squad of mostly freshmen and sophomores, the young Grandview team all but wrapped up a postseason berth with last night's victory.
"We needed to win to get to the District playoffs," LaFever said.
Grandview's lone senior, Payton Parrish, had her usual strong all-around game with 17 assists, 16 kills, 11 digs and two aces.
Taylor Hall was also strong at the net for the Lady Greyhounds with 13 kills to go with 10 digs.
Grandview's Evann Swearingen dished out 16 assists and teammate Hannah Pond hustled for 24 digs.
Suzie Medina also had 17 digs for the Lady Greyhounds, while Samantha Grove and Kaysie Kollmar pounded five kills each at the net.
Grandview (4-4, 8-5) closes out the regular season next Tuesday at Ephrata. A victory would give the Lady Greyhounds a fifth seed in the postseason.
