EPHRATA - The Lady Greyhound volleyball team punched its ticket to the postseason with a 3-0 sweep last night at Ephrata.
Tuesday night's victory avenged a Grandview loss to the Tigers in the District playoffs last year that ended the Lady Greyhounds' 2011 season.
Grandview last night prevailed 25-10, 25-15, 25-15 to clinch the CWAC's fifth seed and a loser-out playoff match at Ellensburg tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1.
"We controlled the ball really well," Grandview Coach John LaFever said of his team's effort last night.
Senior Payton Parrish sparked Grandview with 10 kills, seven assists, seven digs and five assists. The Lady Greyhounds also got a boost from Taylor Hall, who knocked down nine kills at the net to go with seven digs and four assists.
Evann Swearingen kept the Grandview attack humming by dishing out 17 assists to go with six digs. Suzie Medina hustled for a team-high 16 digs for the Lady Greyhounds.
Samantha Grove helped Grandview at the net with five kills and two blocks to go with three digs.
Also for the Lady Greyhounds, Hannah Pond had 11 digs and Kaysie Kollmar pounded five kills.
The win sets up Grandview (5-4, 9-5) with a must-win contest at Ellensburg next week.
"We're doing better, but they're (the Bulldogs) are taller and more experienced," LaFever said of the playoff contest.
With a week or so to prepare, the coach says Grandview will be "...focusing on passing and serving and running some of our plays."
