Baechler will help keep Medicare intact

From Reagan's attack on the first Medicare bill in 1962 to GOP Representative Eric Cantor in 2012, Republicans have been campaigning to end Medicare.

Representative Cantor explicitly stated that "We've got to protect today's seniors. But for the rest of us? We're going to have to come to grips with the fact that these programs cannot exist if we want America to be what we want America to be."

In March 2012, Republican Senator Jim DeMint proposed a bill to eliminate Medicare entirely in 2014. Congressman Doc Hastings has already voted to turn this vital program into a coupon system good for discounts on the same kind of insurance that seniors could not afford before Medicare was enacted.

If you want to keep Medicare, vote for the Democratic candidate for Congress in the 4th Congressional District, Mary Baechler. She will be an assertive and strong defender of Medicare and Social Security.

We seniors have paid into these programs all our working lives, and you can count on her to keep them strong for ourselves and our children and grandchildren.
