Local wildlife area closed to hunters Tuesday, Nov. 6

A portion of the Sunnyside Wildlife Area will be closed to hunters on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The area to be closed off is at the end of South Emerald Road, just west of Giffen Lake. The area in question is referred to as the Lower Rupley Unit. Closure signs will be posted that day to alert hunters that firearms cannot be brought into the area.

The closure of the wildlife area to hunters is intended to help make it safer for a class of elementary school-aged children who will be on-site that day, cleaning the nesting boxes of birds.

Waterfowl hunters who have questions about the specific areas that will be closed on Nov. 6 can contact wildlife area officials at 837-7644.
