YAKIMA - The Sunnyside High School girls swim team yesterday was unable to triumph in a meet against Eastmont originally scheduled for last week but delayed due to poor air quality.
The meet was rescheduled to last night and moved to the Yakima Lions pool, where Eastmont came out the victors with a final score of 117.5 to Sunnyside's 52.5 points.
Cassadie Moore was the shining light for the Lady Grizzlies, winning two individual events and helping her team to victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team beat Eastmont with a time of 1:58:66. The Wildcat relay squad finished the race in a time of 2:14:31.
Moore came in first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21:44. The second-place finisher was Adrian Marquis of Eastmont with a time of 2:41:74.
Moore also bested the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12:30. Kalie Bestbreuer put in a strong performance in the race, matching Eastmont swimmer Marquis stroke for stroke to tie for second place honors with identical times of 1:21:67.
The Lady Grizzlies will return to the Lions Pool tomorrow, Sept. 20, to swim against Moses Lake.
