YAKIMA - The Lady Grizzlies swim team was sunk by the Moses Lake Chiefs, 126-43, in a match-up last night at Lions Pool in Yakima.
Despite sustaining a loss, Sunnyside (0-2) came away with a few personal highlights.
Beating the competition in the 100-yard breaststroke was Sunnyside's Cassidie Moore, who touched the wall in a time of 1:13.17, well ahead of second-place finisher Joelle Barrett of Moses Lake, who finished in 1:20.40.
Moore also came in second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:12.32 behind Moses Lake swimmer Amber Garrett, who finished in 1:07.61.
Also scoring some big points for the Lady Grizzlies was Payton Sample, who squeaked out a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.23 seconds, just ahead of Moses Lake's Torii Dalrymple and Jalen Garze, who clocked times of 28.35 and 28.57, respectively.
The Sunnyside team of Lindsay Schilperoort, Moore, Sample and Kalie Bestebreuer in the 200-yard medley relay also managed to beat the Chiefs, timing in at 2:05.20, just more than a second ahead of Moses Lake's team (2:06.12).
The Lady Grizzlies are scheduled to visit Wenatchee on Thursday, Sept. 27, for their next meet.
