Council approves contractwith Prosser law firm

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview City Council Tuesday approved a contract with Beck and Phillips, PLLC of Prosser for indigent defense services.

The contract is for a fixed fee of $48,000 on a monthly basis to begin Oct. 1.

The firm will provide two attorneys, who will serve as defense counsel for defendants who are unable to pay for their own attorneys.

City Administrator Cus Arteaga said the firm that previously provided indigent defense services has opted to turn over any pending cases to the new law firm.

The city council members, having heard that, approved the contract with Beck and Phillips by a 6-0 vote.
