Della Rae Daniel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on Monday Sept. 24, 2012, at the age of 57.

Della was born July 8, 1955 in Johnsbouro, La. to Grady and Jimmie Hicks.

Della would often be found outside on summer days soaking up the warmth and never missing opportunities to be with the grand kids. Her warmth extended not only to a high thermostat setting, but also her love, guidance and encouragement for her children as she never gave up her role as mother and teacher. She never let a day go by without trying to talk to all of her children and loved ones.

Della was an amazing woman, a devout Jehovah's Witness, baptized in 1975. She loved to go out and share the truth about Jehovah. To have known Della was to be reminded of the simple and important matters in life.

Most people assumed she was shy, she was so soft spoken. Truth be told, she loved to shop with the family, and be silly with the grand babies, her family she loved dearly. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome in her home. Anyone who spent time with Mom instantly and forever loved and respected her even if they only met her briefly. She loved to sit outside all day, she just loved the heat and for it to be warm all year around. Everyone has stories about her and the inferno house. Della disliked the spotlight, but we all can share fond memories of her singing and dancing, whether it be making memories with the grandchildren, or "getting down" at family gatherings.

Della is preceded in death by her mother and father, Jimmie and Grady Hicks, and one sister, Irma Harris.

She is survived by the love of her life, Lester C. Daniel; their beautiful children, Christopher Daniel and Stephanie Sansburn, Patrick Daniel and Lindsay Jones and Amanda Daniel; her 10 grandchildren, Siahya J. Daniel, Nehemiah A. Daniel, Brenden J. Sparkhawk, Tyler A. Finney, Anissa L. Daniel, Micah E. Daniel, Isaiah E. Daniel, Kyiah R. Daniel, Trinity J. Gonzales and Mariyah J. Birdine; 14 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. We will miss and love you Do-Right!

Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, 2291 Tear Rd., Sunnyside.

Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematory in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
